Host of "The Heartland with John Kasich" and Author of "Stand for Something"
John Kasich believes in the power of the individual to raise standards and leave a better America for the next generation. He knows that more government isn’t the answer to what ails America, and he believes in the power of individual actions to bring about historic change in our country. Known for his straightforward style and boundless energy, John is committed to limited government. He fought for these ideals as a nine-term Congressman from Ohio, and now as a business leader, media personality, author and speaker.
John Kasich currently hosts “The Heartland with John Kasich” on FOX News Channel. Also, he substitutes as host for “The O’Reilly Factor” and hosts the special “Heroes with John Kasich.” Kasich joined FOX News Channel as a political contributor in January 2001.
Kasich also serves as managing director at Lehman Brothers in the Investment Banking Division. He maintains responsibilities across a range of industry groups on which Lehman Brothers focuses its investment banking activities including health care, power and utilities, technology and financial institutions.
A member of Congress for 18 years, he was elected to the Ohio State Senate in 1978 and to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. As chairman of the House Budget Committee, Kasich was the chief architect of the plan that balanced the federal budget. He also chaired the congressional committee that overhauled the welfare system.
Additionally, Kasich is a guest lecturer at the Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. He also serves as chairman of New Century Project, a national grassroots organization that helps elect leaders who believe in the power of the individual.
Kasich has been named as one of Newsweek magazine’s “100 People for the 21st Century.” He is the author of the New York Times best-seller, “Courage is Contagious.” Kasich’s new book, “Stand for Something: The Battle for America’s Soul,” was released on May 10, 2006. In the book, he tackles the erosion of the long-standing, hard-earned values upon which our nation is built. John Kasich’s book is a rallying cry for all Americans that will make us think — and, most importantly, make us get off our easy chairs and STAND FOR SOMETHING.
As a speaker, John Kasich inspires his audiences to face each new challenge with integrity and dedication. He brings the lessons of a life in public service to audiences across the country, offering a practical approach to issues of leadership, teamwork, inspiration and vision.
Drawing on his years as a leader in Congress, his business and media experience, and the many relationships he has developed over the years, John Kasich shares how each of us can help to make America great. He discusses the concept of raising the bar, and how ordinary Americans have used this formula to make a difference in their own communities. Kasich also talks about making the decision to leave politics because our greatest challenge lies not in legislating solutions, but in changing hearts, being part of something bigger than ourselves, and joining a team that accepts personal responsibility. In addressing these issues, he introduces some amazing Americans who have made great contributions to American life just by deciding to stand for something. He issues a challenge that we all use our special gifts to make a difference where we live and work. Our greatest legacy as Americans is to leave the next generation a better world.
