Rip-Roaring Political Fun!
The Capitol Steps are a politically correct, bipartisan troupe of current and former (but not disgruntled) Congressional staffers. They are the only people in Washington who attempt to be funnier than the politicians!
Born in 1981 when three staffers for Senator Charles Percy were planning entertainment for a holiday party, the troupe now travels the country satirizing the very people and places that once employed them. It is pure coincidence that most of the Members for whom they have worked have either been defeated or placed under investigation.
Digging into the headlines of the day, their song parodies and skits convey a special brand of satirical humor. The group has recorded more than 21 albums and has been seen in more than 500 live performances across the country per year, including an off-Broadway stint last summer. The Capitol Steps has been featured on NBC, CBS, ABC, and PBS, and the group performs four times a year on NPR in their “Politics Takes a Holiday” special.
The Capitol Steps show is rip-roaring political fun. Equal opportunity satirists, they take aim at issues that are in the news picking on Republicans, Democrats and anyone else who deserves it. The Capitol Steps are an unforgettable entertainment experience. This is political satire at its best!
